Principal Letter

Dear Parents,

As the principal of St. Boniface Catholic School and a parent whose children have all attended this school, I find myself in a unique position to invite you to visit us.

I have been involved with St. Boniface School for over 15 years. Catholic schools are founded on the belief that there should be no separation between a time for learning and a time for formation, between acquiring notions and growing in wisdom. At St. Boniface these ideas are grounded in the Catholic faith, but are universal to a Christian’s life.

We are a small school with big ideas. Our teacher to student ratio is one teacher per eight students. Because of the small class sizes, we are able to implement many innovative ways to educate each student. All students are taught their core curriculum at grade level. This core curriculum includes Reading, Language Arts, Writing, Math and Religion in grades Kindergarten through 3rd which allows for personalized instruction in these subjects. In Kindergarten and 1st grade, Science and Health are taught at grade level, while the two classes join together for Art, Physical Education and Music to allow for more physical and intellectual interaction. 2nd and 3rd grades join together for Physical Education, Art, Music, Science, Health and Social Studies for the same reason. In the 4th and 5th grades, Science is taught at grade level and Social Studies and Health, Physical Education, Music and Art are taught whole group for greater interaction.

Our students receive instruction in Music, Computer Technology, Art and Physical Education. 5th graders who wish to may join the Benton-Carroll-Salem (BCS) School system’s Fifth Grade Band program that meets two times each week for instruction at the Oak Harbor Middle School. Each classroom is equipped with a Smartboard and student laptops are available for use each day.

Our school day runs from 7:50am until 2:30pm. Students are bused to St. Boniface by the BCS school system, Genoa City schools and the Woodmore school system. Our day begins each morning with a short prayer service of a daily gospel reading and ends with a whole school prayer. We envelop every day and every subject with prayer to teach and encourage our students to develop the habits necessary to become prayerful people. We accept all faiths and base our teachings on our Lord’s commandments to love one another as He has loved us and to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, our minds, our souls and our bodies.

I believe your child will benefit from and blossom here at St. Boniface Catholic School. We have much to offer. Please look over the enclosed information. Contact me at mgreggila@ourstb.com  or call the school office at 419-898-1340 to schedule a tour or to allow me to answer any of your questions or concerns.
